Our People

A corporate culture that promotes global social responsibility

Employees are at the heart of Beijer Ref's success. The company's strong local organisation and shared values drive business value and motivate people to achieve the Group's vision.

Beijer Ref applies a decentralised working model with a focus on creating efficient local companies that work close to their markets, with support from the head office. The combination of shared central staff functions and strong local presence promotes both business development and employee growth.

HR and communications are key functions that reinforce a common corporate culture across the Group. This work contributes to social sustainability by promoting gender equality, local social responsibility and a safe working environment.

Common core values

Beijer Ref strives to create an engaged and motivated organisation. By ensuring that all employees understand their role in the company's development, an attractive workplace is created that drives the company towards its vision. The core values are based on four core values: Committed, United, Engaged, and Straightforward. These values are emphasised through leadership that promotes diversity, inclusion and engagement, and implemented through policies, training and succession planning. New employees are introduced to Beijer Ref's values and ethical guidelines early on through digital programmes.

Internal communication plays a key role in motivating employees and strengthening the shared core values. Via the Group's intranet, all employees have access to news, policies and a video channel with regular interviews from management.

Diversity and inclusion

Beijer Ref works actively for an inclusive workplace with a focus on openness and diversity. A priority goal is to increase the proportion of women in all parts of the organisation. In 2023, female managers accounted for 22 per cent, and the company continues to invest in training and development opportunities to increase women's representation in leadership roles. An internal women's network has been launched to promote experience sharing and strengthen the internal talent pool.

Skills and employee development

Beijer Ref sees its employees as its most important resource and therefore invests in skills development and succession planning. The goal is for all employees to have at least one annual performance review. The company also offers a digital training platform and targeted training programmes, such as the Sales Academy, which increases competence in customer service and sales of sustainable products.

The Beijer Ref Exchange Programme is another initiative that gives talented employees the opportunity to work at another subsidiary, promoting knowledge exchange and personal development. The programme, launched in 2019, has received positive feedback from participants and companies.
